Tehran’s FM Abbas Araghchi confirms Al Jazeera that the next round of talks in Oman will not continue on Sunday.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has confirmed Al Jazeera that the next Iranian -American -United States talks on the nuclear weapons round on Sunday in Oman have been canceled.
Asked on Saturday: “Can we have a clear confirmation that Sunday’s talks are canceled?” Araghchi replied, “Yes.”
Shortly afterwards, Oman also confirmed the talks “will not happen now”.
A US -senior official later confirmed that nuclear talks would no longer take place. The official told the Associated Press news agency that although the talks were excluded, “we are still committed to talking and hope the Iranians are coming to the table soon,” speaking anonymously to discuss diplomatic issues.
Previously, Iran had clearly intimidated that the continuation of nuclear talks with the United States was unjustifiable, while Barbaro’s Israeli attacks are focused on the people, Iranian state media reported, quoting Araghchi.
It seemed inevitable that the negotiations would be a victim of a sudden, massive escalation of Israel and Iran.
The Tehran firm’s dialogue for its nuclear program with the US as “meaningless” after Israel launched its all -time major military strike against Iran, which Tehran accuses Washington, DC.
“The other side (USA) acted in a way that makes dialogue meaningless. You cannot say that you are talking and at the same time dividing, allowing Zionist regime (Israel) to target Iran’s territory,” a news agency quoted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Iranian seminar on Saturday.
The US has denied Iran’s claim of participation in Israel’s attacks and told Tehran’s United Nations Security Council that there would be “wise” talks on its nuclear program.
US President Donald Trump has named Israel’s attacks to Iran “outstanding” after initially warning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against action that could endanger nuclear talks.
Trump framed a volatile conflict with Israel on Friday as a possible “second chance” to the Iranian leadership to avoid further destruction, “before nothing left and preserve what was once known as the Iranian Empire.”
The sixth round of US and Iran’s nuclear talks was scheduled for Sunday in Oman.
Iran denies that its uranium enrichment program is designed for something other than civilians, rejecting Israel’s claims that it secretly develops nuclear weapons. Netanyahu is committed to continuing the attacks on “as many days as needed” to stop Iran from the development of “nuclear threats”.
Trump said in his social platform that he had warned Iranian leaders that “it would be much worse than anything they know, predicted, or told them that the United States was the best and most deadly military equipment anywhere in the world, and that Israel has a lot.
“And they (the Israelis) know how to use it,” he added.
Trump has blamed Iran for rejecting US proposals for uranium enrichment and has warned of the upcoming Israeli strikes.
But Hamed Mousavi, a professor of political science at the University of Tehran, said al Jazeera that many Iranians think it is useless to continue nuclear talks with the US when they are bombed.
“The Israelis basically killed the diplomatic solution, and it was surprising that the Americans were completely coordinated with the Israelis in this regard. So I think it is unlikely that the talks will continue,” he said.
Mousavi said the mood in Iran is “quite challenging” and does not seem to support Israel’s goal of changing the regime in Tehran.
“The Iranian people are really waiting for some protest or riots in the Iranian capital. This has not happened so far. We don’t know if it will happen in the future, but at the moment the mood is actually quite challenging.
