Former weight weight champion Usman dominated the fight against Bakley to register their first victory since 2021.
Former UFC Welterweight champion Kamar Usman returned to winning ways after a 20-month break, defeating Joaquin Buckley 49-46, 49-46, 48-47 in a unanimous decision in the main event at the UFC battle night in Atlanta.
“These slaughter will come,” said emotional Usman after winning. “I just needed to remove this monkey from my back.”
The first two title weight attractions in Usman (Win-Loss record 21-4 MMA) showed the exclusion equivalent, effortlessly in the bakley (winning record of 21-7 MMA) and using his foundation and pound to beat St Louis, USA, native 16-0.
Round 3 began strongly for Bakley, 31, as he found his amazing range before Usman reached his third removal in four attempts.
Round 4 was mainly on his feet, as Bakley landed his best combinations of fighting, but failed to provide a revenge finish. Usman again removed Buklie down, securing the back fastening position when the round ended.
Round 5 saw both men trading, but it was not enough, too late for Bakley, who had a six -fight streak. It was Usman’s first win since he won the title in November 2021.
Bakley was merciful to the defeat, suffering from his first loss at weight.
“We are just starting to work, baby,” Buklie said. “We’ll come back.”
Usman, 38, who set up five successful Welterweight Titul Defense from 2019 to 2021 and was one of the highest UFC fighters, invited to the title that was shot in his former weight class after the announcement victory.
“I know I can still do it at the highest level,” Usman said.
“I could do it for anyone (weight in the weight division), one of them … I could open, and you, the guys, saw these impressive slaughtered. I still got them there.”
At the main event, former two-time straw champion Rose Namajunan earned a very competitive consensus decision, 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 over Miranda Maverick.
In average, Edmen Shahbazyan almost completed Andre Petroski with a potential third round of the total slaughter before leaving with a unanimous decision, 30-27, 30-27, 29-28. The victory marked Shahbazyan’s first victory since 2019, his first decision since 2018.
The UFC schedule is internationally with a battle night deposit of a week from Saturday in Azerbaijan, led by a lightweight heavyweight, non-campionate, five cladding between former champion Jamahal Hill (12-3 MMA) and former title challenge Khalil Rountree JR (14-6 MMA).
