Weinstein, once one of the most powerful figures in Hollywood, was accused of rape and attacks.
The jury in New York has found Harvey Weinstein, a shameful, former film tycoon, guilty of a sex crime in a repetition after last year’s National Court overturned its initial conviction of 2020, which was the #metoo movement jumping point.
Jurori, a majority-woman jury, reached its judgment on the fifth day on Wednesday when it comes to controversial discussions. He was justified of another charges, and the sworns were not yet able to make a judgment on the third accusation.
Vinstein, once one of the most powerful Hollywood figures, prosecutors accused them of being an aspiring actress and attacking two other women.
The 73 -year -old had admitted that he was not guilty and continued to deny everyone or sexual, despite the fact that several women argued that he did it. More than 100 women, including famous actresses, have accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct.
In the closing arguments on June 3, prosecution told 12 sworn people that evidence showed how Weinstein used his power and influence to trap and abuse women.
The defense claimed that the accusers had lied to be a kind of unanimous sexual meeting failed to trigger a Hollywood star.
The repetition began on April 23. Weinstein has had a health problem in Litany and visited a repeated wheelchair.
With regard to Weinstein, the aspiring actress Jessica Mannu was asked to rape, attacking former production assistant Miriam Haley in 2006 and Kaya’s Social attack in 2002, when she was a 16 -year -old actress.
In February 2020, the jury had found Weinstein guilty of rape and sexual attack Haley. The Socol’s statement was not part of this case.
This high -level conviction was critical for supporting the #Metoo movement that encouraged women to submit claims of strong male sexual misconduct.
But the New York Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court, threw this conviction in April 2024. It states that a court judge was mistaken, allowing women to testify that Weinstein had been attacked by them, although their accusations were not the basis of a criminal case.
Weinstein, however, is left behind bars thanks to his conviction of 2022 in California, which resulted in 16 years in prison. He still appeals this judgment.
