Help agencies say Gaza is facing a widespread hunger threat after 80 days of Israel’s blockade of food supplies that ended in mid -May. Two young Gazans, Salem Madhats Alaydi and Aya Ehab Zaid, describes what it is like fighting hunger.

This soup kitchen was a life line for hundreds of Palestinian Gaza in northern Gaza. 18 -year -old Salem Madhats Alaydi went there every day to feed his seven family. But it was closed on May 24, after Israel blocked vital resources from entering the enclave until pressure during Hamas negotiations. In May, Israel created new assistance centers in Gaza. It has accused Hamas of diverting the UN -governed UN assistance. The United Nations have denied charges and boycotted the new system. It claims that Israel uses assistance in its military strategy. Since the opening, centers led by private US contractors have been afflicted by chaos. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, dozens of Palestinians have been killed when trying to get help. Israeli military personnel have said it dismissed people who retreated from the routes specified and did not listen to verbal warnings. The Alaydi family now pays for food using money sent from a relative living abroad. Near Gaza, Aya Ehab Zaid has led its soup cuisine. Zaid has documented his life during the war in social media. She said she received donations online to feed her family and others. Despite being moved more than 15 times, Zaid said she was committed to continuing to present food to the public.
