Aviation experts are trying to find out how a a person without a ticket traveled to Paris on a flight that left New York last week.
Svetlana Dali, a 57-year-old Russian citizen, ran into a Delta Air Lines flight in New York JFK International Airport on November 26 without a boarding pass and flew to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, apparently in hiding, spending long stretches of time in the plane’s several bathrooms.
Police boarded a plane at a Paris airport after being touched, according to a passenger’s video shared on social media. “This is the captain. We’re just waiting for the police to come on board,” the pilot can be heard saying.
Daly was detained when authorities discovered she did not have a valid visa to enter the country, the French National Police said in a statement last week.
On Wednesday, December 4, she was deported to the United States and arrested by the FBI. The charges against her have not yet been made public, and she is scheduled to appear in federal court in Brooklyn on Thursday afternoon.

Two previous attempts to deport Dali had failed. She reports for ABC7 News in New York “started to scream” after boarding the plane on November 30. Fox News reports a similar scene on Dec. 3, and she was also removed from that flight when she began shouting“Please help me. I don’t want to go to the United States.
Last week, it emerged that Dali managed to pass through an advanced imaging technology body scanner at JFK airport and avoid document and ID checks during the security process.
A TSA spokesperson told CBS News in a statement that “the person without a boarding pass was physically tested no prohibited items. The person bypassed two identity check and boarding status stations and boarded the plane.
Delta, however, has remained relatively tight-lipped, saying in a statement to USA Today that the breach occurred “deviation from standard procedures”, but does not provide further details. They also insisted that their infrastructure “is stable” after a security check.
“Nothing is more important than safety,” Delta continued. “Therefore, Delta is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident and will work with other aviation stakeholders and law enforcement to accomplish this goal.”
A senior law enforcement official briefed on the investigation told CNN that at the gate, Dali placed herself in the midst of what appeared to be a family traveling together.
One passenger said Dali is moving between airplane bathrooms trying to avoid flight attendants during a long flight.
“I heard the flight attendants talking to the pilots about it,” Rob Jackson, a New York real estate broker, told CNN. “They said this person would be in one toilet and then go to another toilet and go in there for a long time.”
